Shining a Light on the Racially Ambiguous Experience
LISTEN TO THE FULL EPISODE:
Multiracial people make up the fastest growing demographic in the United States but there’s little research that’s been done to understand the unique dynamics of living in the inbetween in a society that has for so long been segmented by race. In this episode, Shawna Gann, certified diversity professional and PhD candidate, joins Nikki to talk about the importance of creating space for deeper understanding of the multiracial experience and Shawna’s pioneering research around the experience of Black multinational women in the workplace. They discuss how Shawna’s lived experience of growing up in Alaska and her life’s career as a trailing spouse in the military have offered her a unique perspective on the impact and importance of representing the nuance of our collective diversity.
